Foundation

At the end of the day yesterday they took the wood moldings off the foundation concrete. We got some shots without all the wood around the concrete :)

Not really sure what those two big wheel looking cement boulders are for :) I'm sure they are for something!!!!

Pouring Concrete

They filled the foundation molds with concrete today!!!! Hopefully we will have walls towards the end of this week :) here's hoping right?! hehe. Here are some pictures.

The Start

Hi, I have created this blog to help me document our building process. We are building a 2462 home with Olin Homes out of Pasco Washington. We went a slightly backwards route. My husband and I found a lot we wanted, made an offer, and then went to Olin Homes to see about having them build for us on our lot. We gave Olin a $25,000 deposit, to which they agreed to purchase the lot and build our dream home!!!! The process has been incredibly slow so far. The decision of which home and which upgrades we wanted was extremely fast, but due to the location we chose to build, we had a number of hoops to jump through.

The first hoop was making sure our home met all the criteria, physically, of the local Home Owners Association in the neighborhood our lot is located. It took an additional 3 1/2 weeks to put together house plan that the HOA approved.

The second and most frustrating hoop was attaining building permits through the City of Richland. Again due to the area of our lot, we had to have a few additional tests done on the land. Additionally we had to have a certified Engineer complete, with their seal of approval, a Lateral Analysis on our 2 story home before the city would give us permits. This process took over a month!

Here are our house plans~

We FINALLY got our permits last friday (start of labor day weekend), and have yet to break ground. We should be ready to break ground any day now, as we now have all paperwork in place. My goal for this blog is to take and document pictures on almost a daily basis. That being said, here is
